Best Dressed 2014

As 2014 draws to a close it's time to take a look back over the year and shine a light on the fashion highlights of the last twelve months.

Safe to say it's been a sensational year for fashion, and as a result it's been ridiculously hard to narrow down so many incredible outfits into a measly top 10 list as I did last year. Trust me - I spent the weekend trying - but I loved too much this year so deemed it an impossible task.

Instead I've tackled this annual post a little differently, and in the process I've well and truly moved away from my singular love of monochrome and discovered I'm really starting to adore patterns. Who'd have thought this was possible this time last year?!

Even with more categories in the post this year I still struggled, so the following 8 looks are those I adored and felt still deserved recognition.

CONSISTENT SARTORIAL EXCELLENCE THROUGHOUT 2014

As far as I'm concerned these 3 actresses haven't put a sartorial foot wrong once in 2014, and have scored constant hits on red carpets, in press conferences and on talk shows. They're even brilliant at street style. I'd hate them if I didn't want to be them so badly.

BEST DRESSED WOMAN 2014: Blake Lively

Blake Lively is an absolute goddess. She bought old-school glamour to every red carpet she graced with her presence at Cannes; looked better than she ever has at the Met Ball; and has now mastered the art of dressing immaculately while pregnant. I don't think she's human: it's not possible for actual people to look so good all of the time. It's just not!

BEST DRESSED MAN 2014: Eddie Redmayne

Colour-blind Eddie Redmayne continues to prove that when it comes to pulling off a plaid/velvet/brightly coloured suit then there's no man in the world that can manage it quite like him. No matter what the pattern or cut of the suit is Redmayne has no trouble looking spectacular and completely at ease. He's reinventing red carpet dressing for men, and the world is certainly a better place for it.

The One to Watch in 2015: Felicity Jones

Over the year Felicity Jones' style has steadily become more refined and polished, and given the number of awards nominations she's starting to collect for her performance in The Theory of Everything I'm extremely excited to see her gracing every red carpet going over the next few months.
