Golden Globes 2014 Best Dressed

Our cinemas and television screens are currently fit to bursting with more incredible films and exceptionally gripping and enthralling programmes than normal, so it must be that time of the year: awards season is finally upon us! The a-list are going to be out in full force over the next few weeks and they kicked off the season in spectacular style at last night's Golden Globe awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

My best dressed of the evening is the resplendent Michelle Dockery, who channeled Lady Mary in the best way possible in this beautifully detailed Oscar de la Renta gown accessorised with Bulgari jewellery. She's been scoring some excellent fashion points recently which bodes extremely well for the rest of the year!

My Best Dressed man of the evening is Matthew McConaughey in this stunning green velvet Dolce & Gabbana number. He looked fantastic picking up the Best Actor - Drama award for his role in Dallas Buyers Club.

I absolutely adored the boldness last night, with so many ladies in red - huge style points to Emma Watson for one of the more unusual looks of the evening - and lots of men working velvet tuxedoes. Tom Ford, Oscar de la Renta and Gucci triumphed with several fantastic looks, and for me the simplicity and elegance of the gowns undeterred by detailing made this a night to remember. With film and television on top form once again this year, it was almost fitting that the fashion world didn't steal all the attention but still shone with subtle yet sublime looks.

Who was your favourite? Have I missed someone who you thought definitely deserved a place on the list? Let me know in the comments or drop me a tweet!
