Transformation Tuesday: Week 53

Here it is: the big one!

53 weekly blog posts, 12 months (to the day) of hard work, and over 70lbs gone.

Brace yourselves: it's a biggun'...

Wimbledon Cake

To mark the return of Wimbledon today I figured a spot of baking was in order, and there's nothing more on theme than a Mary Berry Wimbledon Cake. I've wanted to try making it for ages but refused to let myself even assemble the ingredients before the championships began!

This orange-infused semolina sponge is sandwiched together with whipped cream, sliced strawberries and passion fruit, and is the perfect accompaniment to the tennis over the next fortnight.

The Ciné File Vol. 34

Due to a few days in London it's been a slow film week for me, but thanks to the return of the Odeon Screen Unseen I've been lucky enough to see the new Pixar blockbuster Inside Out, and it's as wonderful and deserving of 5* as I imagined!

Transformation Tuesday: Week 52

Apologies for the rushed post: I'm exhausted and really don't have the time to write anything substantial this week, so any big reflections or revelations will have to wait till next week!

However, I'm hoping it'll be a bigger post anyway as it'll mark exactly one year since I started doing these posts and I think that deserves the usual (if not more) care and attention that I try to devote to these every Tuesday!

The Ciné File Vol. 33

My film watching has dropped off recently hence the two week break, but I'm back now with a couple of new releases including 4* for the latest dinosaur epic Jurassic World, 3* for disaster movie San Andreas, and at the other end of the spectrum 1* for Pierce Brosnan's car-crash of a film, Survivor.

Plus, I'm loving the new American comedy Jane the Virgin enough to mention it: catch up with it if you can!

Transformation Tuesday: Week 50

Well, I think we can all agree that writing a post when in the middle of an intense meltdown wasn't my brightest idea last week...

The Ciné File Vol. 32

As I missed a week last Sunday because of my latest Coming Soon post, there are lots of new releases reviewed this week, including 4* for the aca-awesome Pitch Perfect 2, a disappointing 3* for Disney's optimistic venture Tomorrowland, and 5* for the astonishingly good Clouds of Sils Maria and the hilarious Paul Feig-Melissa McCarthy action-comedy Spy.

Coming Soon: June 2015

Awards-bait films are finally over, so June looks to be a month of pure entertainment. From my point of view, there's nothing wrong with that at all!

Hotly anticipated blockbusters are aplenty over the next 30 days, from dinosaur epic Jurassic World; to espionage spoof starring the hilarious Melissa McCarthy Spy; to Minions, the children's film that every adult I know seems to be looking forward to with unapologetic glee.

Then there's the latest Nicholas Sparks romantic tear-jerker The Longest Ride; National Theatre musical featuring Olivia Colman and Tom Hardy, London Road; and Ian McKellan's turn as the famed British detective Sherlock Holmes in Mr. Holmes. It's a pretty varied month, but aren't they the best ones?!
